Drawings, sketches and watercolours
Drawing becomes a meditation as you hatch the lines to create tone, or trace a fine thread of ink across the paper to show a delicate outline.
Drawing is my way of connecting to the world, of understanding what I see, a way of being completely in the moment, a meditation. Drawing and sketching have become an integral part of my art practice. Sometimes the sketch is an end in itself a record of a time and place and sometimes they become the foundation of a series is of paintings. Working in ink and watercolour is a special delight; a way to be spontaneous and experimental; to embrace the imperfect line, the paint bloom and the accidental splash.
The drawings in this gallery are done using a variety of drawing media – ink, graphite, watercolour and mixed media. Most are done from life as sketches or as more detailed studies.
